Spinning, weaving and craft pilgrims

I'm thinking I can't be the only crafty pilgrim, so would like to know what crafty type shops you've discovered along the Camino France, particularly from Leon to Santiago as that's where we'll be walking. A farm visit too would be wonderful if you know of one, just to see what other sheep farmers and the type of sheep they have.

I'm mostly interested in raw fleece, spinning, weaving and felting. My 20 year old daughter and I (who is also walking it with me) are both crafty types, we have a small shop and run workshops in all things fleece on our alpaca and sheep farm. We would love to learn a bit about the Spanish traditions as we walk.

But please add in all crafty things, as we quilt, sew, make bags, make lamp shades - and someone else might also be interested in a crafty store you've found along the way.

We are taking it really really slowly - only 15km a day, so there will be plenty of time to engage with locals and soak up all that we can. Oh and just thought I'd say, we are doing the Camino as religious pilgrimage, but a little shopping and crafting along the way can't hurt.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I can hardly wait to see how this thread goes! I was thinking of asking the same. I crochet and since I make felted items I need natural fibers. I would love to get some locally while there next month! Some of my favorite yarn I bought at a small alpaca farm and was able to pick the alpaca it came from. ☺️

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Hello fellow crafter, I knew there would be a few of us. It will be so lovely to get some local fibre and agree it's so nice to know the provenance of where your fibre comes from right down to the animal. We run workshops and include meeting and cuddling our alpaca's - which everyone just loves and then they get to craft with the alpaca they cuddled. It would be amazing if I could replicate this experience in Spain.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

That's wonderful! I will definitely be keeping my eyes open and will be sure to share if I find anything. It will be my first time there though so I'm hoping the amazing, experienced pilgrims here might lead us in the right direction.
