If any pilgrim is due to stay at the monastery in St Juan de Ortega, despite the website saying it’s open, it is indeed closed! No beds!
So tonight several pilgrims have had to walk further towards Ages or beyond as the only Albergue is fully booked! So many have had to walk only to find those places beyond St Juan de Ortega have also found those places full too!

Gronze says they open on 15 March. Seems it is wrong.

Hmm! is this a case of sleeping mat and tarp?

My bones cringe at the thought but when one's mobility is limited and cost of taxis prohibitive, lateral thinking springs to mind! :)

I sent a note to Gronze when I read @bradypus’s comment above. If you can believe it, in that short time period they not only took account of what I wrote, but must have been in touch with the albergue, because the opening date has been changed to April 3.

Edited to note — apparently another forum member was quicker to report than I. :p This member told me that Gronze wrote back in 20 minutes to give thanks and to note that the correction had been made. I’ll bet many of you can guess who that forum member was. ;)

Point being — Gronze is a fabulous resource, totally responsive to community input. Don’t shy away from the “contacto” button!

On Seinfeld it is "love the Drake" on the camino it's "love Gronze"!

Ahhh! The unexpected. Some of the things that make the Camino so memorable! Be adaptable, resilient and have alternatives.
