Time of past OR future Camino
May(2016)
Newbie with a first but critical question. I plan on doing the entire Pilgrimage from France to Santigao but I need to break it into two aprox. 23 day segments. First question is where's a good mid point to stop ( Leon) and since I haven't booked my trip yet and I've got a flexible schedule is there much difference between March, April and May as the starting date ?

is there much difference between March, April and May as the starting date ?
March has a lot closed. May is the beginning of crowds especially toward the end. With many albergues opening at the beginning of April or Easter week, that is a good time! There will likely be snow in the Pyrenees until May.

I like April no issues finding a bed (in alburgues) No bed bugs, the only reality you don't know how much rain you will get. I only had 3 days of rain. The previous year is was weeks of it. When arriving in Santiago not very busy 3rd of May.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Hi Bob , I would say Leon and start half of April .
Wish you well and a Buen Camino , Peter.

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
I like May but I'm not afraid of crowds or bedbugs. I'd suggest Sahagun - pretty much exactly halfway and on the main train line.

Thanks. I'm leaning toward starting mid-April and finishing this leg in Leon around the first part of May.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi Bob! I would advise late April/May if those are your choices. Weather will be better and crowds will be just fine. Biggest crowds surge in August. Leon is a GREAT place to stop in the middle, beautiful city and great place to rest:) Will work well with your 23 day split. I hope that helps a bit.

Buen Camino!
