Camino frances Sept/Oct 2018
Us two oldies but goodies start Sept 1. Current weather prediction for thunderstorms both the first and second. We are 75 and 72 fairly fit and older and wiser. We have baggage transport and reservations. So if the SJPdP pilgrim office says do not start how do we get to Roncevalles? Taxi? Bus? ???

So if the SJPdP pilgrim office says do not start how do we get to Roncevalles?
It is unlikely that they will recommend avoiding the paths for thunderstorms. Most of the Route Napoleon is on the road, and you can stay on the road instead of taking the switchback shortcuts. The downhill to Roncesvalles can be avoided by turning right at the top and taking the road. Conditions on the path can be slippery when wet.

The Valcarlos Route can be done on the road. Again, avoid going off the road to the shortcuts for the switchbacks. The mud can be treacherous when wet!!

The bus stop in SJPdP is just across the river in Uhart Cize.
