Starting from Conques

Hello all!

Taking my first Camino on the Le Puy route but starting in Conques. Anyone know the best way to get there?

I know Ryanair has flights to Rodez airport but after that I'm stumped!

Thanks,
Chantelli

You could hitch a ride!! (Its about 33km from Rodez airport)

Train: http://www.conques.com/acces.htm says "The Rodez station is 38 km from Conques."

Or taxi.

There appears to be just one bus per day from Rodez to Conques, Monday to Friday.
http://www.verdie-autocars.com/?pg=lig&id=12&sens=1&intro=no

It looks like a bus leaves the Rodez SNCF station at 16:40, and arrives in Conques at 17:45.
Also, on Wednesdays only, during the school term, there is a bus leaving Rodez at 12:15, arriving in Conques 13:45

There is more detailed info (in French) on the Conques tourism site http://www.conques.fr/ underneath the acces/transports link on the sidebar.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Conques is a beautful small town-justifiably famous throughout France. The large building with the red shutters is where the Pilgrim accommodation is and where the monks taught us the Ultreya song.
