Anyone else starting their Camino from Saint Jean Pied de Port on June 3rd?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I'm hoping to leave London 2/6 and spending 2 nights in SJPdP. I was advised to begin a walk early in the week rather than weekend due to being really busy on weekend. Haven't booked my flight from UK yet.

This will be my third Camino and there isn't a tremendous difference on any day of the week. Two nights in SJPP seems like too much. A night in Bayonne followed by a night in SJPP would be my advice. If you get to SJPP on the second with a plan to start your hike on the third let me know. I've got another friend who I met on Camino in 2013 joining as well.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

I am planning to walk Camino from SJPDP early June, I havent book a ticket yet...trying to find all information so I can finally book one
We are heading out from Saint Jean Pied de Port on the morning of July 3rd which means you would need to be in SJPP the day before. Let me know if you have any questions. I've been researching the camino for over 10 years and have done in twice (2013 & 2015). I have day by day notes on the most important things to see, historical info etc. If you have any questions or need anything at all send me an email at bob@placementdirectory.com and I'll do my best to help.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

SuperPilgrim,

Have you either researched or hiked the de la Plata route? Am thinking of walking from Salamanca north.

Thank you.

Alan

Alan, I've only researched a small amount on the Via de la Plata. Unfortunately I cannot be of much help, but it is on my list as an option for 2019 after I complete Norte and Primitivo next year. I hear from people who have done multiple routes they prefer Plata over Portuguese, but it is a matter of personal opinion.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
This will be my third Camino and there isn't a tremendous difference on any day of the week.
Maybe not tremendous but it's significant.
Spanish walkers usually begin their walk on Fridays, rest of the EU on Saturdays and rest of the world on Sundays, depending on usual departing days from their homes of course.

But I do agree with on staying another day in Bayonne (especially if jet-lagged) and one more day , or at least an afternoon, in St.Jean.

Ultreia!

PS (SuperPilgram??? Why Super and why PilgrAm? That's a spelling mistake???)

My target is June 3, may push it to June 4...depends on travel.
There seems to be a good group leaving on June 3rd. Keep us posted on your travel dates. It is always nice to know some of the pilgrims right from the start!

SuperPilgrim, maybe I'll see you down the road. I start SJPDP on June 8th. My daughter and niece will be traveling with me so I may have to slow down my pace based on their adjusments to the camino. I did the frances last year as well, so I am familiar with the walk and struggles of some. Hope to see a few of the pilgrims posting on this thread.
