Starting my Camino from SJPP on 1st October

Time of past OR future Camino

I'll be flying into Biarritz at 9am and heading straight over to SJPP to pick up my credentials and other equipment (walking sticks etc.).

Just reaching out to see if anyone else will be around at the same time.

Would you recommend starting the camino that day or staying a night in SJPP and heading on Sunday?

AJB,
Lucky you! I would spend the night in SJPdP and then start off fresh on the next morning.
Whatever you do choose Carpe diem and Buen camino!

Where are you flying from? If you are arriving at 9am you will probably not reach SJPDP until late morning and might well be tired from your travelling. Do you plan to stop for the night somewhere like Orisson or Valcarlos? You would be hard pushed to cross the hills from SJPDP to Roncesvalles in daylight at the time of year if you start late in the day. Personally I would stay in SJPDP that day and then make the pretty strenuous journey to Roncesvalles in the morning when I was fresher and not so pushed for time.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
