Auvillar, one day after Moisac.
What to expect: closed gites, very few people?
My guess is that we"ll meet pilgrims who had started from Le Puy 3 weeks before , so there'll be some pilgrims on the trail.

I was in Figeac a few days ago and it was utterly deserted. Saw one of the larger gites closed.

So you're setting your expectations about right.

Just have your MMDD with you Zammy,
Play it smart because the nicest parts are behind you and watch the weather.
Comfort and good clothing,
Bon Chemin

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
So besides the changeable weather, gite closure is your biggest obstacle. Even if the gite is seasonally expected to be open, if there are no reservations, then Madame and Monsieur will often decide to take a few days off to visit the grandkids or somesuch. So I recommend extending your reservations to a week in advance (if possible). Particularly since there are longer stretches between towns and sometimes fewer lodging options. Also a majority of gites will close for the season after All Saints on 1 Nov.

None of this helps with the usual store-closing-day or store-closing-hours problem, either. So carrying extra rations would be smart.
