3 pilgrims hope to fly to BIARRITZ and travel to st jean de Luz to start walking the next day.
Those of you who have walked from there or irun, what advice have you about traveling through San Sebastian?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
It depends on the time of the year. Summer is very busy and accommodations are at a premium, right this minute not so dear.

I walked from Bayonne/Biarritz (stayed at Hotel Les Genets) to Ciboure (Ibis Hotel, 23kms)

then to Irun (18kms), the high route (stunning) to Pasages to San Juan (Albergue de Peregrinos, 16kms)

then to San Sebastian (A Room in The City, 10kms)

then Zarautz (Albergue Gran Camping, 18kms)

Loved San Sebastian, beautiful place.

I suggest you book ahead, as August is peak summer holiday season.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Start walking from the airport!!!! First night Biarritz, second in St Jean de Luz, then Orio, San Sebastián, etc.

August will be busy and albergues are limited along the first part of this route, so consider booking rooms ahead of time

Hi I like the idea of walking from the airport in Biarritz to Sebastian. Is there a marked route and how do I find it. Thanks

I have done this route in late summer/fall. I too think you should book ahead. I used “Room in the City” in San Sebastián. Take a rest day there. Good location.

Wonderful coastal towns , consider a slow first week as it’s a tough route and you want some time to enjoy the towns. Read up on the differences between walking the Camino route vs the GR route. They parallel each other but offer different experiences.

From the airport? No. But any mapping app on your phone will guide you to the ocean where the trail follows the coast (keep the water to your right!). The trail at that point ic clearly marked all the way to Spain. The walk from the airport to the ocean is through normal seaside neighborhoods, so plenty of cafes, bars, shops, and stores.

I use Alltrails a lot here in the US, in Iceland, on the Via Podiensis and a bit on the CF. Will it be useful on the Norte? For example, people here say the "warm up" from Biarritz to Irun (or...
Last May I walked the first part of the Norte in the opposite direction, from Santander to Irun. Since I only had two weeks and couldn't reach Santiago anyway, I wanted to swim against the tide...
Tomorrow I fly to Bilbao to start my 5th stint on the Camino. I did the Frances in three parts (2016, 2017 and 2022). Last year I did the Portuguese from Porto. I did the first 200 km of the...
I thought I had this all figured out, but I have ended up with 2 train tickets from San Sebastian (I don't even know if it's the airport or the town) to Irun, instead of ONE that goes all the way...
Hi! I’m a Camino newbie planning on walking Camino del Norte this May-June. I have previous hiking experience and do well on longer distances and so on, but not any super recent multi day long...
