LIVE from the Camino Starting tomorrow from SJPdP

Finally I am in SJPdP.
At the pilgrim's office, they gave me a map with a lot of red X's on it. From what I understood (nobody spoke english, only french and german, I speak neither) currently the Napoleon route is not passable. I will ask again tomorrow to be sure.
So if Valcarlos is the only way for tomorrow and I start walking by 8am, will I make it to Roncesvalles if I walk until 3 or 5 pm? I want to rest before dawn.

Also, do I need to get a stamp at a public albergue while in SJPdP. I'm currently staying at a private accomodation.

Go safely on your Camino ydan. Your private accomodation should be able to stamp your credential, all of them have stamps. You do not have to get them stamped in public albergues, any place will do, cafes, bars, hostals, albergues, public and private..

I would suggest you make the final decision if you want to stay in Valcarlos or push on to Roncesvalles when you arrive in Valcarlos. Just ask your body then what it feels like doing. SY

Remember after you leave Valcarlos there are no services until Roncesvalles monastery. Be prepared! If you do decide to stay at Valcarlos you can get the code for the municipal albergue door at the office of the mayor within the large building facing the church. The nearby municipal albergue is GREAT and well heated.

hello again, I am now in Estella!!

When a pilgrim let's say stays in a private hotel instead of albergue, is it still possible to get a stamp from an albergue?

You can stop at the albergue to ask for their stamp. However any private place will also have a stamp. Carpe diem!

so it does not matter whether it's an albergue, a 3-star hotel or a 5-star hotel? I thought, as a pilgrim you should always stay in cheap places
