Today had the largest number of Compostelas in July since the Holy Year in 2010! The daily average for the month is on track to exceed the monthly total for July 2010, the last Holy Year.

Today had the largest number of Compostelas in July since the Holy Year in 2010! The daily average for the month is on track to exceed the monthly total for July 2010, the last Holy Year.

So, basically, 30 times more people than in July of the Holy year? While it sounds incredible it certainly felt like there were so many people last June. Yup, the Camino has changed drastically.

It looks like a record number of Compostelas issued today -- 3,013. Last August 9, 2014 was announced as a record at 2,748.

This number looks reasonable.

The total number for 2015 is on track to exceed 2014 by at least 10%, so we should also expect the daily record highs to do the same thing, year over the year.

It looks as though there will be about 45,000 July Compostelas! That will make it a record July.

Pending some final revisions, there were 44,749 Compostelas in July. In the Holy Year 2010, there were 42,472.
