Time of past OR future Camino
2014
Hello my 14 year old daughter and I will be returning to the Camino this summer. We plan to start our journey on June 30th from St. Jean Pied de Port. We are flying into Biarritz on June 28th at 9:30pm. Because we are arriving so late into the evening we wont be going straight to SJPDP. Could someone tell me if its would be better to stay the evening in Biarritz or taxi to Bayonne and move on the SJPDP the next day? Recommendations for accommodations?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Anglet airport serves both Biarritz and Bayonne.
For ease of getting to Saint Jean Pied de Port it would be best to spend the night in Bayonne and travel to SJPdP the next morning.

In Bayonne the simple
Hotel Monte Carlo is good inexpensive choice located opposite the rr station. Nice cafe and resto also. Here is their web .

From Biarritz airport (Anglet) take a Chronopost bus 14 to the BAYONNE rr station (Gare SNCF).
Travel time is roughly 30 minutes.

At Bayonne station take a regional TER line 62 train to SJPdP the next moring.

Generally there are several TER line 62 trains from Bayonne to SJPdP each day.

mspath, thank you for the thorough reply. You made the start of our journey so much easier.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Taxi or bus to Bayonne. Monte Carlo is across the street from the Bayonne train station. Nice breakfast on their patio & you’ll see other hikers there.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
An alternative thought, assuming you are flying in from Canada and will be tired. Get a hotel near the beach in Biaritz, sleep in, have breakfast and a walk on the beach. Take a later bus/taxi to Bayonne to catch the train to SJPDP and spend the night there. The next morning start walking, feeling rested.
