Staying in St.-Jean-Pied-du-Port

I and a friend plan to arrive in SJPP in mid-August and stay for two nights. I was looking on "booking.com" and I find that most of the hotels are filled already, and it is only February. Is this customary? I know that the "Spirit of the Way" is open for reservations and we were thinking about staying there the second night. We arrive in Paris in the am from an overnight flight from the States. We then hop the TGV to Bayonne. Then the trip to SJPP. So it would be nice to stay somewhere "nice" in SJPP for the first night.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
August is the all-out busiest month in Europe with factories, schools, colleges and many other institutions colsed for the holidays.

Try Tim's place, Errecaldia, a delightful B&B with an English landlord who is a wealth of knowledge about the area.

I have stayed at Tim's a couple of times.

Nice place.
