Storing luggage while on the camino

Caravaggio

New Member
Hello, everyone.

I'm going to be walking the camino starting in a few weeks and, since it will be my first time in Spain, I am planning to do some sightseeing around the country after the pilgrimage.

I plan to carry the minimum amount in my pack on the camino, but would like to have more items (clothing, in particular) for my travels afterward.

I would like to know if there is any way to store some baggage in Santiago or a nearby town and pick it up when I finish the walk. Can it be kept at the train or bus station? Can it be sent 'General Delivery' to the Santiago post office and picked up later? Any other suggestions?

Ideally I would like a solution that doesn't require me to visit Santiago before the walk - I want my first experience of the city to be at the end of the journey, not the beginning.

Any ideas or suggestions will be warmly received.

Thank you,

When you arrive in Spain, mail your stuff to the post office in Santiago. They will hold it for you.

I suggest you don't bring any books. Just be on the Camino and in Spain.
The books are a distraction and take you somewhere else.

I just got back from the camino and traveling Europe... I would say the best way is to pack your backpack for Spain and go shopping afterward... By the time you are done with the camino buying two or three super cheap outfits will make your the happiest person in the world... Plus your new camino friends will be so happy to pick out new stuff to see you in... and remember pack two or three outfits max... light bag is the key!
