Has anyone caught a taxi from Madrid or Pamplona to SJPDP? I'm wondering how much you paid, approximately? I'll be travelling from regional Aus and keen to save as much time as possible!

Planning to start CF in December 2018.

Thanks :)

Rometorio doesn't even state the possibility of an affordable taxi, so I guess it will be very expensive.
Buses really are better solution imho. Or the high speed train : takes approximately the same time as driving.

And don't forget Iberia and a daughtercompany have daily flights from Madrid to Pamplona. Sometimes with sharp prices.

Thankyou Sabine. I've been looking at the possibilities of plane/train/bus. However, by the time i arrive in Madrid from where i live in Australia, i'll have been 'on the road' for 30 hours already so would really like to make the next leg as streamlined as possible. I've found a pretty cheap return flight so i'm happy to put the money i save there towards easier/quicker travel options.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

Then it might be a good idea to look into a local flight Madrid -Pamplona with Iberia.

For what is Madrid - Pamplona, by bus (www.alsa.es) you have a lot of services per day, cost around 45 Euro. You also can take a shared car (blablacar) with a cost around 25 Euros. By train (www.renfe.es), also a lot of services per day, around 55 Euros.

Buen Camino & Ultreia!!

Hi Katie , why not stay the day of your arrival in Madrid .
You can travel the day after your arrivel to SJPdP. Its a option .

Wish you well , Peter .

If money is no object a limo service will cost somewhere around 450-550 euros. After 30 hour on a plane, however, and a long ride to Pamplona you would likely need some down time before walking? We are flying to Madrid from USA. We take a cab (30 euros) directly to a hotel near train station, crash, and then the next morning have a great breakfast buffet and then take the train directly to Pamplona (45 euros booked in advance) There is an early train that gets you into Pamplona before noon. Have a great Camino!

There are flights from Madrid to Biarritz (BIQ) in the summer at 15:55 which gets in at 17:00 Currently about €60 for May 1 as an example but it may not run in December

From BIQ its a 10 minute taxi to the Station at Bayonne and and hour by train to SJPP. There is a late train (19:40) showing again for May but December may have a different timetable.

So whole journey to SJPP from Madrid for under €100 if the timetables allow.

I'm going from Madrid to Logrono this year - short of Pamplona - but internal flights tend to be cheap if you book as early as the airlines allow.

There was a municipal bus that went from downtown Pamplona to Roncenvalles several times a day...also Pamplona Airport taxis will take you from the Airport to Roncenvalles for a reasonable expense if you decide to arrive by air...and there are plenty of empty Pilgrim taxis that can take you from Roncenvalles to SJPdP.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
