Hi Matt, I remember that we met at Orisson in May of 2014. I know that you will enjoy Porto to Santiago, it was my first. Is Denise going?

Tenth day of Camino Portugues. Many differences from Camino Frances. Brierley guide is invaluable. Beautiful walk up the coast from Matsinhos to Vila do Conde. Much road walking in Portugal. The albergue in Rates kindles the Camino spirit. Likewise at Casa de Fernanda and Nilho. Not walking fast. Stopped in Valenca and Tui. Passed Redondela today on way to Pontevedra.

Hi, if Brierley is still in the same format as when I walked, on the cover of his guide there is a photo of a stone cross. This cross is in Padron. Take the time to walk up the hill and spend some time there, reflecting on your pilgrimage before you finally arrive in Santiago. Few pilgrims seem to realise the historical significance of Padron on the Camino Portugues. Jill

Yes. The cover photo is of St. James altar. I have heard it takes a little effort to find it. Looking forward to kneeling and praying at this holy site.

Finished Camino Portugues on October 15. I am a slow walker and had some foot problems. Stayed in Valenca and Tue - both worth the stay. Pontevedra has a nice square for watching the world go by. Stayed in Padron to see 'E Padron' in Church and Santiaguano. Many pilgrims staying at the monastery in Hebron and said they had a great community meal and pilgrim experience. Paused in Teo to reduce the long walking into Santiago. Very nice Casa Rural next to oak grove - not too much else. Restoration on the Cathedral in Santiago continues with limited access to the Portico. Spent several days walking around the old quarter. The Pilgrim House is a great resource for pilgrims.

I'm glad you enjoyed. The Camino Portuguese is indeed special and different from the CF.
