Time of past OR future Camino

Dearest Ivar and all Forum friends,

Tomorrow is THE day. I will being putting several time zones between me and all I hold dear. You know how I feel. You have either put feet on the path or are planning to do so.

You have helped me as I tried to decide on boots or trainers, you have advised me regarding bed bugs, phone plans, travel insurance, snoring, scantily clad peregrinos, and the siesta. You have given counsel on how to avoid being robbed, how to find the best places to stay, albergue etiquette, what to pack and what to leave behind. Take earplugs...yes, take earplugs.

You have helped me see this as a journey and not a competition; that the right questions can be as important as answers; that the Camino will speak to me if I have the ears to listen.

I know more about blisters and how to avoid them than I thought possible. I have collected an unlikely first aid kit of duct tape and Bag Balm.

Leaving family and friends behind is harder than I thought it would be. I will carry them, and all of you, in my heart as I go along the way. If you see a pale green and blue backpack proudly bearing the Forum patch and an older woman sporting a trekking umbrella, doggedly putting one foot in front of the other, please stop and say Buen Camino.

I am eternally grateful.
Deborah

Dear Deborah,
You have echoed my thoughts perfectly, as I prepare to leave Canada tomorrow (Friday) to begin at SJPP on Monday morning, the 23rd. This forum has made me feel part of a community before even arriving, which is pretty spectacular. So you keep an eye out for a purple backpack with a Forum patch- two sisters and a sister-in-law, all of a certain age, having the adventure of a lifetime.
Best,
Wendy

Buen camino ! Go well and safely.

Extremely happy for Deborah and all others about to embark on this incredible journey. I like how you will bring all which is important and leave all which is not behind.

Well wishes sent your Way of serenity, reflection, friendship, strength. Of course, wine and chocolate as well.

Keep a smile,
Simeon

Deborah, Buen Camino!
What a lovely message! Yes, I know of your excitement, for I ventured out one year ago for my first Camino from SJPP to Santiago de Compostela. What a profound experience! And all those months prior, reading and learning from the forum was amazingly helpful...not one blister, btw!!!
Here's to you, Peregrina! One step at a time...
Blessings,
Bozzie

What a lovely message! Buen camino to both you and Wendy as you set off on this fabulous adventure. There is nothing like the anticipation of beginning this unique trek...until each new day begins and brings more uncharted territory and new friends to meet. Savour every moment!
