I am off tomorrow morning to Spain.

Thanks for all the great postings and replies. It is much appreciated.

One last question,

Many have commented on growing crowds even on the VDLP. Should I prepare myself for this even at this time of the year? I am starting in Merida in three days time.

Big thanks,
Michael

I think the albergues should be ok but remember August is the holiday month for Spaniards - I would say wherever you can phone ahead you should do so. If you stay either at the Albergue or the Casa Rural run by Ana and Elena in Aljucen outside of Merida ( or even just call in in passing ) they will give you up to date advice on how many pilgrims are around right now.
