The Art of St James - your favourite illustrations

Hi everyone,

Recently, I stopped by a museum in London and was pleased to find a delightful medieval carving of St James, one that originated in Germany, I think. I took a photo with my basic cellphone and it's now my phone's "wallpaper", a sight that always pleases me.

Can you share any representations of St James that you've encountered, around the world, which you particularly enjoy? Where is it, what is it, why you love it...etc?

Sorry I can't upload the one I refer to.

So, here's one we all may know atop the Cathedral! With the tele lens you can sure see why they have the scaffolding up - lots of cleaning to make this last. Also, I confess I wanted to learn how to upload a pic.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Slightly hidden in the Burgos Cathedral Museum here is my favorite representation of Santiago. 15th century, small, about 30 cm tall in gold plate with intricate curly beard and hair, wearing his wide brimmed hat and iconic shells he holds a pilgrim staff complete with water gourd. ...Perfect!

This is believed to be the earliest sculpture of Santiago as a pilgrim, complete with staff, scrip and scallop. It dates from some time around 1100, and is on the south porrch of the romanesque former monastery of Santa Marta de Tera in Zamora province, on the Camino Sanabrés. Apparently if you're inside the church during the spring and autumn equinoxes, the rising sun shines directly onto a statue of the virgin.
