This Saturday • 21.00 • San Martín Pinario • From 15 euros • The work of the Italian composer Gioachino Rossini The barber of Seville will sound in the emblematic church of San Martín Pinario. The well-known piece is a fun bufa opera divided into two acts, perfect to start the first-time audience in the operatic world.
The piece, of its own production, is directed by Vincent Alberola, an artist with extensive experience in management and great knowledge of Galician music. The team chosen to perform the opera consists mostly of Galician musicians, who add musical technique and interpretation. Ferrolanos singers Gabriel Alonso and Patricia Rodríguez will play Figaro and Rosina, respectively. The compostelana soprano Anaís Fernández will play Berta, and the baritone from Cambados, Jacobo Rubianes, from Fiorello. In addition, the Argentine tenor Emmanuel Faraldo will participate as the count of Almaviva; the Valencian David Cervera, as Don Basilio; and bass Pedro Quiralte as Dr. Bartolo.

It’s a shame that the opera virtually opens up with the only bit most non-opera-buffs would recognise. Rossini should have put the fun bit at the end.
