It certainly puts Santiago de Compostela into perspective! So many trails to walk!

Counting down now.

This is the view when you first descend into Bolsena with its castle . The town is pretty but full of tourists.

No reason to post but this sign is worth looking out for. And there is a water tap beside it.

147km to go.
Geez...they've ripped us off saying Canterbury is only 1460km! I'll clock up 1800km tomorrow (on my way to Siena). Even though I started in London, they're still out by approx 200 hard-won kilometres. 🤔 Great pic though...I'll keep an eye out for it. 😊

Your next milestone is Montefiascone, the home of the Catholic Bank, and ground zero for those wanting a shorter walk. Plenty more pilgrims in evidence.

And those on the route have been very good to the lost souls who share this journey.8A6E8538-3034-4867-8F80-E0D040E01262.jpeg188CD04C-EA5F-4A78-B1D8-7FA58F7D7C94.jpeg

How beautiful! Thanks for the preview A.
Jam-packed with tourists here too...expecting even more hordes in Siena tomorrow.
Just two days 🚴‍♂️ to go for you? Can only imagine how you feel...I don't even want to think about it being over. Even though I still have 2 weeks of walking to reach Rome, I have that 'end is drawing near' sense...& I don't like it. 😔

You are quite correct the sign outside Canterbury does say 1800km. When I asked they said it was ‘approximate’

Oh my...I want to cry looking at that sign! Imagine coming all this way & only having 100km to go...
Safe riding into the madness of Rome.
If you can (or want to), please post when you've arrived unscathed.
Take care,

My 1800km so far is from London so even deducting the 160km Ldn-Canterbury, the signs are very approximate indeed!
This pic was taken at Cisa Pass (thru the mist...) & shows Canterbury as 1452km way back there! 😄

The final stages have you posing as Sigeric in Vetrella if this appeals and then onto Sutri

After Sutri there is a steep climb into Campagnano . Between there and Formello there is a wonderful country park with families out enjoying barbecues and picnics. Then onto Formello .

A word about the yellow Coffee stall in Formello. He serves only that strong dark expresso that Italians like. When asked for milk or hot water to tone it down, he wasn’t able to help. He did though ‘water’ it down with Zambucca which made the next section more interesting.

My final stroke of luck is 8 miles away there is a flat well marked cycle track that leads almost to the Vatican door. No problems in getting into Rome and no hassle either.

So that’s it. And if you intend to do this then enjoy it. You won’t do it a second time.

Well done A...& congratulations (not the right word but the closest I can get) on your achievement, accomplishing what you set out to do, solving all the problems along the way & hanging in there.
Glad to know you arrived safely.
Oh...& why isn't your cheery face filling Sigerics cut out?...or would that be selling your soul?...it'd be selling mine! 😏
Love the coffee episode...cycling under the influence for awhile there were you...?! 😝 😄
Enjoy some rest now.
