Time of past OR future Camino
from st jean, the complete st james's walk. 5 to 6 weeks
Hope to re-starting my Camino next week from Sarria, can someone on the Camino please confirm how warm it is ? Thank you.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
At the moment it is between 16C (nights) and 25C (days) in Santiago and the weather forecast for the next days looks similar, further than that - who knows? And yes, bring a fleece for evenings and some rain gear - if you don't need it - lucky you!
Buen Camino, SY

Cheers, that sounds good, I could handle them temperatures,

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
If you want to keep track of current weather along the Camino Frances - or almost anywhere else for that matter - I recommend the Weather Underground website. Real time weather reports, records of recent days, long and short range forecasts, statistics..... More information than most of us would ever want or need. Just type a place name into the search box and go. Here is a link for information on Melide just as a representative town in the final 100km: https://www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:00000.187.08042

I'm at about the same latitude as the Francès, and it's blimming hot -- but variable.

The humidity level is also up and down, quite exhausting !!

Gear up for changeable weather, though assume that you'll need to dress for a blazing sun -- sunscreen and whatnot for your skin if you're from more northerly climes, and not used to full exposure.

I think that it's a year for a combination of scorchers, storms, hot sweaty nights in your bunk bed, and yet mysterious chilly nights too.

From SYates' advice, it may be a wetter and cooler summer in Galicia specifically as well, which can only complicate matters for you.

Glad to see there's been ' No recent Earthquake Activity' :)That's what I call a comprehensive forecast.

I just ggole "tiempo en ..." and plug in the names of a few towns I will be walking through. Lots and lots of different Spanish weather websites pop up. How did we ever manage pre-Google?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Looks like early 5:30 am starts then, thanks for the help, last year I had to stop because both my legs & ankles started to swell, (causing blistered feet) I'm on medication for high blood pressure but I think it was the heat that caused the problem. . .trying to be better prepared this year.

The Spanish television RTE featured a report 7/7 indicating something like a cyclone sitting over the peninsula for the next few days headed eastward. They had record rainfall in Madrid with sever urban flooding.

I walked from Lisbon in April and May. While warmer, generally than the Frances route, I substituted a long sleeve Underarmour polo shirt for my customary, light weight fleece to save space and weight. It worked just fine.

I hope this helps.

Don't forget that temperatures quoted are air temperatures and often bear little resemblance to what it feels like when you are walking in full sunshine. I find that by mid morning it is uncomfortable to walk and by afternoon horrible so do give yourself the time to finish walking by about 13.00 and as someone else said, don't forget the sun block! Meteogalicia is a good place to look for temperatures here in Galicia.
Buen camino!

I will start from Ponferrada next week, and I am pretty "excited" what the weather will bring. I think I am prepared for even the worst storm, haha!

Buen camino!

Just don't mistake the arrows and go down the Frances when you mean to walk the Invierno (for cooler temps of course :D) :p!

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc

Good luck Joe, hope everything goes well for you this time. Buen Camino!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
