Sil, I think you would like the following book, if you haven't already read it:

Pilgrimage to the End of the World, by Conrad Rudolph. He's a non-religious, rationalist type that walked from Le Puy to Finisterre - quite a trek. Despite his rational leanings, he was quite affected by the Way.

The book is a bit dated for route and albergue info - he walked in the 90s. But his insights are interesting and timeless...lots of good photos w/detailed captions as well... :arrow:
