Thank you so much for that video. When you arrive by plane do you have to make your way into the train/bus station to get to Sarria?

Ok thanks. There doesn't seem to be many buses a day to Sarria end of October

Yeah I am in the same boat, trying to get to Monforte de Lemos on a Saturday at the end of October. Doesn't seem to be anything on Saturdays!
Also go via Lugo. There is a Lugo-Sarria bus that doesn't seem to show up on Rome2Rio when you try to search directly from Santiago de Compostela to Sarria.

Various routes...
VNwalking, you are fantastic!
Best to double check. In case.

Another option comes to mind that's more complicated, but you see a bit of the part of the Invierno you miss by starting in Monforte. It's really different: Bus to Ponferrada, train to Monforte. It's admittedly ridiculously circuitous.

This book's focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared.

Since you go through Lugo to get to Sarria why not start in Lugo and avoid a day or two of the Sarria crowds (its camino joins the CF, in Melida I think). A start point of Lugo (the cathedral?) qualifies you for a compostela.

Those were from RometoRio.
I really loved this train journey. You follow the walking route part way at first - it's a bit of a sneak preview. You also go along a stretch of the Rio Miño between Ourense and Monforte that's really spectacular.

Thank you Ivar, I have just marked it on my SDC map for next time. When we finish a camino, we usually stay at a hotel in Praza Galicia, then walk to the bus and catch one back to Porto Airport, to fly home to Australia....this station is much more convenient.☺

Thanks Ivar! In the very last scene when you’re looking at the Alsa bus, it looked like there was a machine on one of the pillars. Do you think there is a ticket machine out there? For those of us who arrive late and are making a last minute mad dash to board?

There was definitely an ALSA ticket machine there.
