I have been back just over a month now.... Told myself it was my last Camino francés cos it couldn't be bettered, really. So why do it again?

Oh how wrong and mistaken I was.

Of course the minute I was back, I was reading this forum.
Why???

Probably because I still feel 'on the Camino' with like minded people...?

I feel for every single person who writes about their blisters, their pain or their worries and fears before they walk the Camino. I don't always answer because so many other people here are better at it. When I do, it is to help or I can't help it.

I dream, when others post about their Caminos, past or to be.

Just to say, there will be a next time, 'if the Lord spares me' lol (actually a quote from Lillian Beckwith).

Why I just don't know! Wherever it takes me.

Do any of you feel the same?

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.

This treatment may help.
1. Buy a 2ndhand copy of The Way, Martin Sheen, from Ebay.
2. Hit soles of bare feet with a mallet until they feel really sore.
3. Set up your sitting room with curtains closed, lights off like a cinema.
4. Have a bottle of Rioja ready, as well as a stale bocadillo - you know, the ones with the crust so sharp it can cut your gums.
5. Watch film (remembering that it is not a documentary so it doesn't matter where and when things happen).
6. Repeat as necessary.

I'm no veteran at all (I walked only part of Camino Frances this year), but yes, I'm planning my trip for 2017 ever since I returned home in May. And I read this forum almost every day.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
@domigee I would stop worrying about your Camino fixation. Too late to cure it now. You and me both know that for both of us that boat sailed years ago :) So far this year I've walked the Portugues from Porto, the Olavsleden from Sundsvall to Trondheim, and at this verymoment I'm finishing an excellent menu del dia in Logrono on my third Camino Frances. And occasionally wondering "where next?" Sad or what? :)

Just love this thread!
Diagnosis confirmed!
But then I knew I had this sickness as every time I go on the iPad to check something with no connection to the forum eg news or weather
Guess what!! I just have to push that Camino forum button!!
Now that is several times a day and the husband is saying I have water on the brain.....well I know that I have something.......Camino fever I think it is.
And David's treatment(apart from the wine of course) would only make the symptoms worse.
Watching "the way" ...again....would finish me off completely and then I wouldn't be able to go on the planned CF again next year!
I've got get off this forum...nothing is getting done around the place!
Am going now and won't be back for at least.............30 minutes!!

Domigee....I hear you. Guilty as charged....

I'm even more looking at Iberia/ SN Brussels airlines for good fares than checking in on this forum. It is a wonder I get my job and household done:)
Booked my ticket for March 2017 for 30 €. Even if next Camino does not go through at least I have a cheap weekendtrip to Madrid....

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I walked my first Camino in 2014 with a dear friend and I loved it. But I wanted to see if I could " go it alone" so that's what I planned to do next. Luck and circumstances had me go again in 2015, not alone, but with another great group of people, and their company was wonderful but I got sick (not seriously) and while still loved the experience, I decided never again, at least not carrying, staying in albergues, etc. Next time "touragrina" for me. I was feeling sorry for myself.
Then sometime after I came home (maybe even a few weeks) the call to do it alone came back. So May 2017, God willing, I will leave SJPdP, or Roncevalles and walk to SdC. I may be joined part way by my companions from 2015, or not, and be met by my husband in Sarria, or not. I may stay in albergues, ship my bag, or not.
I plan not to plan and let things happen as they happen. You see I think I got pouty the second time because I set such crazy expectations. On my first Camino I had no idea what to expect and I was open to it all, the good, the bad and the ugly. The second time I thought I knew and was not as open.
So off I go again. The call is too strong to ignore.

Doing all of the above, just a month back now. Came to realize that though my pack was 25 lb, I was carrying 80 lb more than I should on these old bones as well. That is what halted my Camino. So, must shed the weight, go back, restart with a 12 lb pack in Pamplona and realize the journey. The virtual version here on this forum and, "The Way," are mere watered down, ersatz facsimilies.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I feel the same. Planning to return in 2017 to start in Melide where I became ill last July. Can't wait to return. I miss the wonderful people I met. I miss the experience of watching singing groups of children walk by, of greeting people I met as I walked, of sharing experiences with others, and of course the simple courtesy of residents and pilgrims alike. So yes, I miss it too.
