The route from Roncesvalles to Santiago on Viewranger

I've found the gps coordinates for the route from Roncesvalles to Santiago somewhere on the web late last year and uploaded them to Viewranger (http://www.viewranger.com/en-gb) - an app usable for both iOS and Android. I found the app quite good, and used it to track my daily progress :)

I've used it as a backup map just in case I would get lost or wanted to check how long there was to ....wherever I'd go that day....

It was very useful for me - I actually downloaded the OpenCycleMap for the way in Viewranger and thus had an off-line map at hand the entire walk.

So there it is, in case anyone also can use it :)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Thanks for this. I can't wait to give it a go! Maybe I'll do a little test drive around San Francisco before I head to Spain in May. I am a late adapter to the Smartphone movement, but I am catching up quickly!

Hi CJ, I have downloaded view Ranger on my IPhone. How do I get this Camino map on my IPhone now so I can use it offline as you had? Thank you.

Under options->create saved map

I used OpenCycleMap and had to split the download into 2-3 parts as they were too large for ViewRanger to handle.

I'd suggest that you try it out with your local area to try how it works. It's great when you test it offline and you discover that you actually have the maps - suddenly you can bring detailed maps with you on all your trips!

Greetings all. I was scheduled to start in Porto in a few days. Went for a 20 km hike yesterday (my longest thus far) and almost didn’t make it. By the time I got home, I could hardly walk...
I have a confession. I am terrified of - and yes now feel free to laugh - the top bed in bunks with no railing/fence (something to stop you falling out). I've managed to get away with it except...
This is the latest fad for Camino stay out of the wind and woods 🤗.
What are your favorite restaurants, bars, hotels, inns, etc on the Camino Frances NOT in albergues please? Gracias.
We just returned home from watching our second total solar eclipse here in the U.S. in 7 years. Our next is in 20 years. We have become hooked on the magical, mystical, moving unique experience...
Yes, pardon me. So I've just read this cool article about the closing of the Puerta del Perdón in the Monastery of Santo Toribio for the holy year (and it is a very beautiful peurta for sure). It...
