plan to do it only Spain (2015)
hello. I plan to make the french route on bike starting with Roncesvalles. I fly from Bucharest to Barcelona and by train to Roncesvalles.
I have some missing logistic issues:
- where to send the bike before I take the flisght so I could get it when I reach Roncesvalles ?
- maybe one friend will join my trip, so if we find no place to sleep, could we camp ? if so is better to have the camp equip with me/us
- can I get the passport from Roncesvalles or I need to travel to SJDP?
-SJDP as start I would rather prefer but difficult to reach from Bucharest, especially because I have only 14 days of holiday...

Any advices highly welcomed. I am a novelist and hope this route will help me a lot to bring a new book to live..

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

You might want to consider renting a bike rather than transporting it from Bucharest and back again; (google "Camino bike rental").

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
I would just book the bike on the flight to Barcelona, get it road ready at the airport and then take it on the train to Pamplona and bus on to Roncesvalles.
I prefer the bike to reach my destination much earlier, in the plain the operators normally take no care, I cannot accept the way the handle the packages... currier & fragile is better

In that case contact the albergue in Roncesvalles and see would they take delivery of your bike, if not they may be able to suggest someone else. They can be reached at 0034 9487600

I have studied different alternatives and checked prices and constrains... I decided travel with my friend from Romania by car, bikes with us, do the route and return by train back to the car parking. This will make our holiday one week longer but confortable and good price ratio.

Thanks you all for advices.
