Today I decided to do it - book my flights to walk the Camino Frances in April.

I got onto my travel agent, booked two economy airfares (my wife will meet up with me in Santiago) and the total cost was $4,194.

This evening I checked my bank account, and out of the blue sometime today I got a royalty payment I wasn't expecting. The amount? $4,394.

The extra $200 will cover taxis and incidentals in transit.

This has knocked me sideways. What more proof do I need that this is going to be a spiritual journey for me.

Welcome to the true reality,
Many if not all things concerning the Camino occur because they are supposed to occur-no, not mysticism, not fate, not destiny, not Buddhism, but, as you have already experienced, a fact. You will meet certain people, share camaraderie and go your separate ways only to meet up again, you will stop or walk on not according to a book or a plan but by factors you have not yet experienced, you will be delayed by weather, delayed by –God forbid-injury, by a church that will not be open for another hour – all for a purpose which at the time you will not fathom. Your inner reasons and motivations for walking the Camino will change dramatically as you walk and again unfathomably. If you allow, you will be confronted by your inner self, by the physical challenge of the distances involved, your own spirituality will be effected, your sense of time will warp and slow down, the beauty of the Spanish countryside as well as the art and architecture, the Spanish are crazy about statues-search them out- the Camino will cause many changes which you will later struggle to retain as you reunite with what you had always considered to be reality-the reason why so many of us return to walk so often. The Camino affects the universe and not the opposite so accept it Buen Camino

ha ha - I think it's funny that you think you know what the universe affects. And that you feel compelled to tell me so eloquently.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Perhaps the extra $200 was for a night in the parador when you meet your wife in Santiago? :D

Buen Camino!
