Yesterday was the "premiere" and I couldn't get tickets for it. Martin Sheen and Emilio were scheduled to be in attendance for that showing. It is showing again today (11Sep) as well. Maybe they will stick around for the 19th of September showing which is when I have tickets for. I will keep you posted!

Suspense is killing me!!

Trivia:
Employees of a large downtown hotel in Toronto are on strike right now and Martin Sheen made the news by marching with them. . .

I know there are several reviews out but I wanted to add my 2 cents worth.

I really, really enjoyed the movie :D . That said, I am going to have to see it again when it is released. I know what the story line was but I think I spent a great deal of time watching the scenery and recognizing a great deal of it. It was amazing to see the Camino unfold on film because I can still clearly remember sights and sounds and smells for specific locations in the film, even after a year.

The movie itself was amazing. After the film, I was walking down the street behind some people who had seen it and one conversation that struck me was the one about how much of a tear jerker it was. My favorite comment was from a guy, probably in his 60s, very distinguished looking and he wasn't all that impressed with the movie...because it brought tears to his eyes and that wasn't something he did! Of course the rest of the group went on to discuss how much tissue they went through.

There were only a couple of discrepancies that I saw and one had to do with the Compostela itself. When they handed it to him (Sheen), his name was in English instead of Latin. I think they did they did this because of what happened next but it still stood out (no, I'm not going to tell you want happened next and spoil it). The other thing with the Compostela was that it was dated November 5th, 2010. That caught me off guard as I know he was filming it in 2009 while I was there and that date hasn't even happened yet. These aren't complaints, just observations.

Like I said, I will definitely see it again and and buy it when it's available.

Looks like the movie is coming to Spain November 19th, 2010 but I still can't find anywhere to indicate if they have a release date for North America yet.

I hope you all get a chance to see the movie soon but in this pilgrims opinion, definitely worth the wait! Job well done!

Second hand review here. The Way premiered at the TIFF while I was in Canada but by then I was already heading eastwards from Toronto. Sue Kenney stayed home and missed the Friday showing to host me at her lovely lakeside cottage (bless her), but she did get to the Saturday one. She wrote me that it was "good, not great" and that the pushy Canadian female protagonist "got her Compostela because she quit smoking". I´ll have to see it before I can comment.
The Way has yet to secure a mainstream distributor but I am sure it will be available, at least, on DVD.
Really want to see it but hope that Catholic Martin Sheen didn´t fall for the Old St. James propaganda...
