Time of past OR future Camino
CF (X3), VDLP, Madrid ‘12-‘22
It is well documented the Camino Frances has experienced an incredible investment in renovation/new alburgues, tiendas, bars, restaurants and other facilities during the past years. Has anyone or group collected photos from earlier years (since the turn of this century) or perhaps there are two or three blogs that can best share this earlier time photos with memories?

The CF has changed significantly and I believe many pilgrims would enjoy reviewing the early photos/blogs and comparing them to their own Camino photos and memories.

Thanks, in advance, for sharing and being pioneer peligrinos/peligrinas.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I loved your account of how the modern Compostela credential came to be designed. Do you know why the stopped giving certificates to those who had driven rather than waked/ridden? What was the official justification??

Five million tourists a year in Santiago would make the task impossible.
Indeed :) But was there an official reason given for stopping the certification of those who drove?

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Here's a starter for 10. San Bol albergue had no electricity, running water (only a spring) or mains drainage. There was a rather brutally named compost toilet, but it didn't work, so people had to crap in the field out the back:

Is this from 2007? ? Very funny. I am just in the midst of writing a blog on toilets :) May I quote this?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
