Yes, I went to the museum last year- during my second time in Santiago. Very interesting- and loved the view from up there over the Square.

If you take the roof tour of the cathedral, the view is even more spectacular!

When I was in Santiago in July, I was happy to get a ticket for both the Portico de la Gloria and the "cubiertas" (rooftop). But I have to confess I was a little disappointed to see that the lovely ballroom/refectory of the Palacio de Xelmeriz has been converted into a room for temporary exhibitions. I thought that it really detracted from the beauty of that room, and in fact some of the romanesque carvings were a little obscured by the displays. Does anyone know if this is a permanent change, or whether this was just a one time deal?

Will do. Thanks. It's a an unexpected surprise as I hadn't known about the tours or museum. :)
