Excited and hopeful to get back on my Camino soon. Can’t wait!Got my Pfizer shot this morning, so far no adverse reaction...another jab in 4 weeks time, then the party can start![]()
That's a ways off. Vaxart just did a Phase One trial of an oral COVID-19 vaccine:I was kinda hoping they'd find a way to give us the vaccine on a sugar cube like the polio one when I was a kid.![]()
Wow, Raggy, thanks for this. It is indeed an amazingly quick development. I had stated that as a humerous aside not realizing they were in fact working on it.That's a ways off. Vaxart just did a Phase One trial of an oral COVID-19 vaccine:
But consider that the first polio vaccine was administered by injection from the mid 1950s and the oral vaccination wasn't available until the '60s ... so things are actually moving very fast
For sure! We don't get severe cold here in Oregon, but 12 - 13 C is downright balmy here! When 12-13 Celsius is chilly, you know you live a pampered life.

I remember as a kid growing up in New York City we got the polio sugar cubes in school. It was a very different time. I don't think there were any anti-vaxxers in those days. That's a ways off. Vaxart just did a Phase One trial of an oral COVID-19 vaccine:

Unless you take a visitor to Crater Lake in February I I have a few times. WOW is it cold but wow is it worth it.For sure! We don't get severe cold here in Oregon, but 12 - 13 C is downright balmy here!
A young girl in our village had polio which paralysed her. She lived in an Iron lung until her untimely death. Seeing that as a child (families took it in turns to visit her and read to her in hospital) and now knowing that polio has been almost eradicated gives me huge belief in vaccines.I remember as a kid growing up in New York City we got the polio sugar cubes in school. Unfortunately it is having a comeback. Here is a news article from National Public Radio in the United States regarding Polio.A young girl in our village had polio which paralysed her. That is a terrible indictment of the results of war and poverty during a time of pandemics. If those children had clean water and decent sewerage the outbreaks would not have occurred.Unfortunately it is having a comeback. The Campaign To Wipe Out Polio Was Going Really Well ... Until It Wasn't
It looked as if polio would be the second human disease to be eliminated — after smallpox. But "2020 has been a terrible year," the head of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative says.www.npr.org
In my country, only Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) and Moderna vaccines are certified and available. These are free for the entire population, and between the two, no choice is given; you get what you get. In the 3 days since the jab, no reaction, no pain.If you are also getting the Pfizer vaccine like Olimpia did good luck to you. It was just reported this morning that it looks like the Pfizer vaccine is very effective against the English strain and most likely will do a good job against the South African virus.
I had both my Pfizer vaccines. In the United States it is administered 3 weeks apart. I can tell you both that as you probably know it is the second vaccine where you may get a reaction to the vaccine. I know quite a few people that have had both Pfizer and Moderna and all but one had a reaction to the second vaccine. They ranged from mild to pretty strong for about a day. I think I had the strongest reaction of my friends and family. I was dizzy almost immediately and then suffered from fatigue for about a week. But as I have read and was told by 3 different physician friends of mine, one who is an immunologist, that having a very strong reaction is actually a pretty good thing that means my body is reacting strongly and I should have excellent viral protection. But I did feel pretty lousy.

MHRA response to Danish authorities’ action to temporarily suspend the AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine
This is a precautionary measure by the Danish authorities. It has not been confirmed that the report of a blood clot was caused by the AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine. People should still go and get their COVID-19 vaccine when asked to do so.www.gov.uk
