I know and enjoy how easy it is to forget time and date on the Camino but...tomorrow is the big day. It is hard to celebrate the Feast Day of Saint James in Jerusalem. The Armenian Cathedral of Saint James with that all-important relic, his head, celebrated the day by the calendar of the Eastern Church - April 30. There is no confraternity over here, no Jewish pilgrims organization or Camino office, only small bands of very enthusiastic pilgrims who don't usually remember the day. I usually celebrate en la familia and cook up something from the Camino, tortilla española (prepared in YES olive oil since that is the way such things were always produced in Spain, in the Muslim lands, and here in Israel until modernity crept in and ruined the party!), and/or patatas bravas, and/or garlic soup, and/or almost padrón peppers, a bottle of Albariño and pull out one of my photo albums (revealing my age there). Great Fun!
Tomorrow though, I will be in Tel Aviv with the grandbabies and there is very much good seafood there, things we can't get here in Jerusalem (kosher rules!) things like say shrimp, tiger prawns, and to my question...is it considered bad form to eat coquille Saint Jacques on his feast day?
Celebrate however you can where ever you are and enjoy the day!

This is the latest fad for Camino stay out of the wind and woods 🤗.
What are your favorite restaurants, bars, hotels, inns, etc on the Camino Frances NOT in albergues please? Gracias.
We just returned home from watching our second total solar eclipse here in the U.S. in 7 years. Our next is in 20 years. We have become hooked on the magical, mystical, moving unique experience...
Yes, pardon me. So I've just read this cool article about the closing of the Puerta del Perdón in the Monastery of Santo Toribio for the holy year (and it is a very beautiful peurta for sure). It...
