Recently, thinking back to my spells of walking on the Camino I recalled two small incidents that reminded me how far I was from home. The first occured as I walked on the Route Napoleon when I saw hanging in the sky overhead a vulture. The second was just before Pamplona. I was sitting quietly at the side of the trail when I noticed lots of small lizards scurrying about. All very different from the half-starved pigeons that make up most of the wildlife in my home city, Belfast.
