Because of my schedule, it works out that I'll be returning from Paris on November 3. I'm wondering about the effect of Toussaint on traveling the preceding weekend. Does anyone know if I'm likely to have trouble getting seats on trains? Also, are there any special closures that weekend? I know that the school holiday will have been going on for a couple of weeks before then.

I'm totally willing to wing it and indeed prefer that, but my favorite place to stay in Paris books up very early and I need to be able to tell them now the exact days I plan to be there at the end of my trip.

I'm hoping to get somewhere past Dax while walking, ideally maybe to Roncesvalles, but I don't know for sure about that.

Dependent upon the geographic zone in which French students live the Toussaint school vacation occurs between October 17 and November 2, 2015. All classes will be held on Monday, November 2. As you are aware the official date for this holiday (All Souls day) is Sunday, November 1. Transportation will be very busy during this period. Book ahead ASAP.
