Train or Bus from Santiago to Astroga

I am finishing my Camino this year as I left off last year in Molinaseca - but I am willing to back track couple of days since I want my friend to see Astroga and walk couple of days to get my legs back before getting ready for O'Cebreiro.

The train site isn't useful or maybe I am not looking right as there is no train from Santiago to Astroga. I thought being a major city along the Camino there would be trains.

What's the best way to get to Astroga?

Try a train via Orense-Empalme or a bus with ALSA.

It sort of depends on when you arrive in Santiago. Unless you can catch the 9:30 train you're better off with the 13:30 ALSA bus! I like busses and this one doesn't take too much longer than the train. http://www.alsa.es/portal/site/Alsa...x.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

I just figured out that I can take an ALSA bus from Madrid to Astroa - 1:45pm to 6pm.. the best choice for me since I don't have to switch!

Now how easy is to book the tickets online since some bus companies don't like to sell the tickets until an hour or two before the bus leaves?
