Train: Santiago to Ponferrada, Leon, Burgos, Pamplona

Hi all,

I am not sure if this is new (but I think it is), RENFE http://www.renfe.es (train) has now a train that goes back (more or less) parallel to the Camino Frances (Ponferrada, Leon, Burgos, Pamplona). It is a long trip, but might be an alternative for some that would like to return the same way the came... not flying and not by bus.

That train´s been running that route for at least as long as I have lived here -- Sahagun is my principal stop, and this is my favorite way to get to Santiago! It travels both ways, once a day.

Just so you know, the train follows the Camino Invierno along the Rio Sil, between O Barco de Valdeorras and Monforte de Lemos. If you are considering walking the Invierno, take a ride on this train for a preview!
