Training for Your Camino on the Northern California Coast

Time of past OR future Camino

Portuguese Central & Coastal ('18)
Happy New Year, dear friends. I'm sharing my latest blog, Walking Through the Ages, "Let's Hike and Preserve California's Coastal Trails," with a trip to the Northern California Coast. The California Coastal Trail runs along our breathtaking coast and is a great place to train for your Camino. Flats, ups and downs, everything you love. And there are a few hostels to stay, but it's not the Camino! You will need a bike or car in between. If you live in California or come for a visit, be sure to spend time on the trail. You might see dolphins, whales, pelicans, gulls, and lots of hikers and walkers spending time by the sea. Buen Camino, Irene

Looks so beautiful! I live on the St Lawrence river 45 min from the Adirondacks the best of 2 worlds. My walking takes me usually along the river until Spring when I can go to the ADK and enjoy those little hills. Thank you for sharing your place in the world so many places so little time!

@Micah26, thank you for sharing your "place in the world." The Adirondacks - definitely the best of 2 worlds. I agree "so many places, so little time!" Many of us are lucky to have places to hike and walk that are safe and beautiful, too, which makes training for a Camino, easier. I'm about 90 miles from the coast, but only seven miles from the American River and a bit further for Sierra Nevada trails and watershed. And for many who are always on a Camino, they can continue walking, meeting new people and widening their horizons closer to home. Buen Camino, Irene
