Translation of the Compostela from Latin to English

miratur

I finished my camino from SJPP to Santiago last June and I received my Compostela. The trouble is that it is written in Latin and I do not know the meaning of what is written on it. Does anyone know how to translate it from Latin into English?

Thanks

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
"The Chapter of this Holy Apostolic Metropolitan Cathedral of St. James, custodian of the seal of St. James' Altar, to all faithful and pilgrims who come from everywhere over the world as an act of devotion, under vow or promise to the Apostle's Tomb, our Patron and Protector of Spain, witnesses in the sight of all who read this document, that: Mr…………………has visited devoutly this Sacred Church in a religious sense (pietatis causa).
Witness whereof I hand this document over to him, authenticated by the seal of this Sacred Church.
Given in St. James de Compostela on the (day)……(month)……A.D. ………
Chapter Secretary"

Thanks a lot sillydoll. Much appreciated.

By the way I enjoyed most of the camino and I met many interesting people. I was very happy to see some of them at Santiago.

If anyone has lost their Compostela, they can request a duplicate by sending a letter to the Pilgrims Office Office - Rúa do Villar 1, 15704, Santiago de Compostela. Or you can email the office at: peregrinos@archicompostela.org.
You will need to give your full name, where you started from and the day you received the Compostela.
