Walking Pamplona to Burgos end of August. Need to get a Bus from Bilbao to Pamplona on Sunday the 27th August, however no matter what site I visit I cannot book one online. No problem day before or after. 27th does not seem to be a public holiday or anything and you can book a bus Sunday before or after.

Q. Is there something I am missing?????????

Its probably your bank trying to protect you from spending your money.

It could be that you are using a US credit card that is not compatible with Euro websites. Euro websites sometimes use a card reader to provide an electronic handshake.

It could be the website will not sell you a ticket more than 30 days in advance. ALSA is one of the few bus companies that does accept purchases more than 30 days in advance.

It could be the schedule for which you are trying to buy a ticket doesn't include Sundays. That would explain being able to buy day before and day after.

Don't sweat the small stuff. There is a PESA bus from Bilbao Loiu airport to Donostia/San Sebastian every hour. There is a CONDA (ALSA) bus from San Sebastian to Pamplona every hour. You don't need a reservation; buy it when you get there.

Here's the daily timetable for "Autobuses la union" (check your bus times under "Domingos")

You can't buy tickets online yet, although I don't think you'll have much trouble getting a ticket once you're in Bilbao, and there are buses throughout the day so worst case you'll just have to wait for the next one. Tickets cost €14.95. In any case Pamplona is only 1h3o driving distance from Bilbao, and as whariwharangi has mentioned there are other ways of getting there.

Checked with the hotel, bus operators and tourist office. Some form of special celebration in Bilbao that day so no public transport out of the city. Looks like I will get to see the Guggenheim museum after all. Caminoways are quoting 20 times (seriously) the cost of a bus ticket so won't be taking that option either.

I'd check again at the start of August.

I can't even get any Renfe trains or Euskotren from Bilbao from mid June ... so the schedule for August is certainly not there yet.

That's a bummer! You might want to check if anyone's heading in your direction with blablacar (rideshare website) closer to the time. Although Bilbao is a great city, well worth the extra day.
