Time of past OR future Camino
I am walking part of the Camino from 2nd September to 18th, Leon to Santiago.
Hi Fellow Caminos

I am about to embark on my first Camion (I am so excited). I fly from Stansted with Easyjet to Oviedo/Astorius on 2nd September. My flight gets in at 14.30. I am travelling down to Leon. Does anyone know if there are regular train/bus links down to Leon. I know the hostels get full pretty early in the day.

Does anyone have any ideas? Also is anyone else going to be around Leon on the 2nd?

Many thanks, Angie

Hi, Angie!

If you're worried about albergues being full early (which is common in high season), try to book in Albergue Unamuno in Leon. You can do it through booking.com or directly. I've paid 10€/night in 3 bed-room in July. Location+price=unbeatable!!!

Thank you so much for that tip.
I wanted to start my pilgrimage off in a spiritual place, ie the convent in Leon but they close the doors at 1900hrs so I might not be able to get there in time. Also I wanted to see some of Leon at night after I have eaten. I will check it out.

Just booked the last bed for 10 euros in the Albergue Unamuno. Thank you so much. It has good reviews and only 10 minutes from the Cathedral. Breakfast is 2.50euros. It will save me in the morning and you don't have to be out by the crack of dawn so I should be refreshed for my first day walking the Camino.
Bless you again, that is weight off my mind.

That's what this forum is all about. Unamuno is opened 24/7 so you won't have any problem in the evening. And it is about 2 minutes from Cathedral ;)
But if you want to start your Camino in more spiritual place you can stay at convent the second night and allow yourself get over jetlag and some sightseeing. Cathedral is a gem and Barrio Humedo is a nice place to hang out in the evening, have something to eat etc.

I booked Unamuno this evening. So happy to have my first night booked. I want to start walking and give myself time to go over to the coast for the final destination. Sooooooooo looking forward to my spiritual experience and meeting fellow Caminos.
Thank you for helping me on this journey.
