Hi Folks we are a group of 8 planning on starting the Portuguese Central on the 25 th May 2022. Flying into Santiago does anyone have any information as regards transport to preferably Valenca or Tui. We would be arriving in the airport at 1700. Thank you.

Tommy Barr,
For 8 people a mini van taxi might be best. Try searching via Google for taxi/Santiago de Compostela Airport/Tui. Also for other types of transport, train or bus, try Rome2Rio.com.

Good luck with your plans.

Hi. I'm not too sure but Valenca to Porto is a straight train which I took last month. I believe there is a bus to Tui according to my friend who walked with me. He resides in Lisbon so is familiar with Portuguese train/ bus schedules. According to rome2rio com site there are 4 buses daily. As a matter of interest can you not fly into Porto and home from Santiago. On walking Del Norte in 2019 I flew to Santander and flew home from Santiago. Just a suggestion. Either way the Portuguese Central route is very beautiful so happy planning.

Hi Tommy,

Bus
There is a bus from Santiago to Valenca do Minho, check out https://rede-expressos.pt/en/timetables. It runs a few times a day.

Train
You can train between the 2 connecting in Vigo but the connection from Vigo to Valenca currently only runs once a day, leaving Vigo at 08:58.

Vigo to Valenca/Tui : https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en/train-times

Private Transfer with Monbus
Monbus do a private rental bus service from minibus to coach. I have used a couple of times as it can work out more economical with big groups. There is a request form at : http://www.monbus.es/en/renting-vehicles-with-driver

Other Private Coach Hire
I have also used this comparison site: https://www.rentautobus.com/en/spain/item48
which allows coach companies to respond with quotes for your transport request. Used in 2019 from Santiago to Valenca for a group of 34 people and worked out about £15 per person with airport to hotel stops

Feel free to message me if you want further information, I have organised quite a few group trips to Galicia with ground transport.

Note that if any of you were thinking of using pack transfer service, Correos (Spanish Post Office) do not pick up in Valenca Do Minho, only within Spain i.e. from Tui. However TuiTrans service the whole route as I'm sure other companies may.
Email/phone them directly as they sometimes offer discount depending on the group size (at least they did pre-covid).

Thank you all for info. There is a schedule problem flying into Porto. It looks as if the mini bus will be the best option. Thanks again to all.

Try Caminofacil. They offer a taxi/ minibus service - you can calculate on their website, OPO to Valenca for 8 is € 238. They also do a great job of luggage transport. My ground of 7 used both a few years ago, highly recommended

I have been incredibly inspired by so many stories of loss, pain, diagnosis, or other stories that tug at my heart strings, but one pilgrim, since lost in the threads here, was an 83 year old man...
I started my training walks last fall in preparation for the camino frances this year. This included walking in the mall in bad winter weather (ugh!). My husband was undecided about joining me...
