Hi all

I am still looking to see if anyone is arriving at Bordeaux airport on the 24/4, going to either Bayonne or St Jean Pied de Port. I really want to start my walk on the 25/4 from St Jean but connection is proving difficult or that I will get to Bayonne pretty late.

If anyone is flying into Bordeaux on the same day, please let me know....

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

What time does your flight arrive? There's a train Bayonne-SJPP at 18:12, otherwise you could sleep in Bayonne and leave the next morning at 7:42 (and start walking as soon as the train arrives at 8:40am)

There are trains from Bordeaux-Bayonne every hour until til 8pm.

[p.s. Not entirely sure what you're asking, as it's unlikely a pilgrim would drive to SJPP, for obvious reasons. A taxi share from Bordeaux would work out expensive as it's a 3-hour drive]

I don't think I can make the 6.15pm train to Bayonne as the flight gets in at 4.45pm if there is no delay. Hopefully I can make the 8 pm train and find somewhere to stay in Bayonne for the night and take the first train out to st Jean the next day.

I was hoping that there might be others arriving around the same time as me in Bordeaux and we can share a taxi to St Jean.

I think there's a 18:45 train from Bordeaux; you should make it to the station in good time - the airport bus only takes 30 mins to get to the train station: https://30direct.com/en/horaires/

If you wanted to try and share a taxi maybe try and post on this thread (as mentioned by Anniesantiago above): https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/forums/taxi-sharing.121/

However from Bordeaux it is a 250-300km journey, and at around €1.20 per kilometre (according to the 'combien coute' website, in the Aquitaine region "Il s'agit d'un prix moyen qui peut baisser jusqu'à 1.2 € et croître jusqu'à 1.3 € selon les endroits") so it could get very pricey, unless you're sharing an 8-seater!

Have you tried an air route to Biarritz, which is not too far from Bayonne? I am a day earlier than you and because of my late arrival at CDG, I need to stay a night in Bayonne.

I got a bed in Bayonne through booking.com. It cost nearly 40 euro but makes for a relaxed start.. train to sjpdp at 7am ish next morning and I'm off and running. (Walking)... (Shuffling)... (Having a nice sit down)..

Express Bouricott pick up from Bordeax as well as Biarritz as far as I know. Getting a share may be difficult though. Contact EB and give them your details. They will respond with availability and whether they have a share or not. You will be quoted a price and if you are happy wit it, you respond with an acceptance. You pay cash in the taxi, they dont do prepay and dont have facilities for plastic in the car

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Why are you flying into Bordeaux? Would be easier to fly to Biarritz then you have lots of options.

I know!! It was simply lack of planning because it is easier to fly from Bristol airport which is about an hour from our house.

I have now booked accomodation in Bayonne and hoping to take the first train out to St Jean on the 25/4...

Getting excited!!
