Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Frances, 25th June 2024
I'm just about to start my journey tomorrow 25th June flying into Bilbao which arrives in the afternoon hope to out of the airport by 3/30pm . Planning to catch a coach a from Bilbao via San Sebastian to Bayonne and train to St Jean de Port. I have accommodation booked in St Jean de Port to start my camino on the 26th . The problem is the coach from Bilbao which is leaving very late at 5/50 which means I probably wont make it to Bayonne to catch the last train. I don't really want to spend the night in Bilbao or San Sebastian .
Does anyone know of a quicker way? Or is there anyone going the same route to share a car? Thanks

You might stay in the pilgrim albergue in Bayonne for the night. They take reservations. See more info in this Gronze citation. You could then catch the first train in the morning from Bayonne to Saint Jean Pied de Port.

Good luck and Buen camino!

Hi,

This is what you can do.
There is a PESA bus from Bilbao Airport to Donostia(=San Sebastian) every half an hour. Get on the first bus to San Sebastian. Departures: 15:15, 15:45, 16:15
From Donostia/San Sebastian take the Alsa bus at 18:00 arriving at Biarritz Airport at 18:55.

From Biarritz Airport there is a shuttle bus/van to Saint Jean Pied de Port. Waitimg for passengers right outside the terminal building. This is a small airport. You will easily find the van.
The price depends on the number of people sharing.
As of now:
at 19:10 the price is 19 €
at 20:15 the price is 54 €
You must contact the shuttle bus company in advance. It's called Express Bourricot. Scroll through their webpage and you'll see the last minute prices at the bottom.

Bon Voyage!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
