Transportation question: Bayonne or Biarritz to SJPP? Taxi?

Time of past OR future Camino

Travelling from Paris to either Bayonne or Biarritz on Sept. 19, and yes, getting excited! What is the best place from which to start? Has anyone taken a cab? If so, how much did it cost?

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Biarritz and Bayonne are connected cities. The airport is toward the coast, the bus and train station is down by the river. The two are a fifteen minute taxi ride apart. The train/bus for SJPdP leaves from the train station. The fare is about 10E. A taxi from Bayonne to SJPdP is about 125E.

Fly or take the train. It would be an expensive ride from Paris to Bayonne.

SJPdP is connected to Gare Bayonne by SNCF TER Aquitaine and Transports64 (via St Palais)

The closest airport to Gare Bayonne is located at Biarritz. The only way to connect direct from Biarritz to SJPdP is via taxi. Take Chronoplus bus 14 from airport to Gare Bayonne.

Quick point of clarification. You can get via Express Bourricot transport (I may have misspelled) from the Bayonne train station to SPDP for 80 euro. That works for up to 4 people (if you have them or they have them). I used them a few weeks ago. They speak English and picked up on time. The main advantage would be that since the train/bus combination does leave until about 6:00 you might get ahead of some of the group on any one night.

I just take a bus from Biarritz airport (bus stop just outside the airport exit) to Bayonne train station, cost : a few euros?
Takes at the most half hour? (I stand to be corrected, last time was 2 year ago and I've forgotten )
Then a train from Bayonne to St Jean pied de Port - which may still at the moment be replaced by a bus journey.
But all very easy and...very cheap. At the time, there was no need to book ahead. Stress free!

Somewhat related, we will get to Biarritz late in the day on the 22nd of September. I'm thinking it will make sense for us to spend the night there (we will have been traveling for more that 24 hours) and then catch the bus/train the morning of the 23rd. Any advice on where to stay?

I would recommend staying in Bayonne for the night . I stayed in a hotel directly across the road from the train station called Hotel Cote Basque it was basic and clean and cost 50 euro for the night and you can go across the street and book your train ticket for SJPDP before you even check out so no waiting around the station
