Hi,
I have walked from St Jean Pied de Port to Pamplona with a very good friend, but he has now left Pamplona for a Camino in Italy.
I am staying in Pamplona this weekend and planning to leave very early on Monday morning to avoid the heat (5am or earlier). I’m slightly anxious about suddenly going solo and would love to walk with someone, even if it’s just until the sun comes up! Please message me if you’d like to meet!

You could check the Facebook group Camigas, which helps non-male pilgrims connect.

I bet many will be waking up as early as yourself to beat the heat. If I were you I would stay in the Jesus y Maria public albergue. it is big and clean and you will meet lots of other pilgrims to join up with. I am sure it would be the same in some of the smaller albergues. Also make sure you download the AlertCops app. It is easy to set up in English. It has a GPS to track you if you are in trouble or hurt and you will be connected to an English speaking person to help you. I think, whatever your sex and age and comfort level walking everyone should have it on their phone.

I wish I could walk with you. I can tell you that in walked the camino frances alone in 2021 and there is great peace and joy to be found walking solo. I pray all works out for you and you find what you need. Buen camino

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Hi Louisa, iv’e walked from Pamplona very early a good few times, i’m an early starter as i think the dawn is the best time of the day on a pilgrimage……just follow the shells in the pavement, a rather lovely experience, particularly when you reach the university and begin to climb up toward the alto de perdon…

There’s a nice Sello to be had at the porters’ lodge at the university.

Thanks for all your advice and replies everyone! In the end, I walked to Cizur Menor and stayed in Orden de Malta Pilgrims Hostel. It was wonderful, and I had no issues leaving there just after 5.30am!
Hi

I would like to hear how the rest of your pilgrimage goes, would you be prepared to post about your geographic progress and your internal journey from time to time as you progress?

If you do, you can start a new thread with the "Live from the Camino" tag, or I can add it to this thread if you'd like.
