Camino Frances (June 2016)
Looking for ideas or suggestions on getting from airport in Biarritz, arriving around 8pm Saturday 6/4/2016 and would like to stay somewhere nearby that evening and would then like to make my way the next day to SJPDP and begin walking on that Monday morning. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Really looking forward to doing this. I have been planning this for over a year now. Any pilgrims out there leaving SJPDP on Monday 6/6/2016? Thanks. Denis.

Last Chronoplus bus #14 leaves Anglet airport at 2041 and terminates at Gare Bayonne. There are several hotels in the vicinity of Gare Bayonne.

Note Chronoplus schedule for 4 June 2016 is not yet available. I used Saturday 26 March 2016.

Some Camino angel,(thank you to whoever it was that gave me this name) told me about the Hotel Monte Carlo, right across the street from the train station that the Chronoplus bus #14 takes you. Email is montecarlo@numericable.fr It took a few tries to get them to answer back, but they did. In the morning, I just cross the street and take the 0745 train to SJPP. Even I can't get lost. I got a single room with the bathroom in the hall. Many old hotels are like this in Europe. I don't get in to Biarritz until 7:15 and it's too late to make it to SJPP that night.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Hope you like the Monte Carlo! It is a great value and their cafe/restaurant is fine. Sleep well!
I was thinking that it was you who told me about it. Thank you!!!

Joodle,

Thank you so much, just the information I was looking for. Your advice seems like the perfect plan for me. I just went on the chronoplus website and I think there will be later buses that I will be able to catch so I can get to Bayonne. Thanks again. Denis.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

You're very welcome Denis52. Stayingng right across from the Bayonne train station is the perfect plan for me too, because I'm a chicken. I will be making this journey on my own and I'm very nervous. I can be very brave for other people, but chicken on my own. I plan to change this on my Camino!!
