Time of past OR future Camino
May 2023
Hello! I am turning 60 in May and planning to do my first Camino starting in Tui since I am limited on time
Sooo many questions but first I can’t figure out the best way to get there.
I am flying from SFO but want to go to Barcelona after.
Any suggestions on which airport to fly in to Etc?
Thanks!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
You can buy a "multi-city" ticket.
I would recommend flying to Porto and home from Barcelona. There are some good deals to be had between Barcelona and SFO.
You can fly or train from Santiago to Barcelona.

Im doing RT from Denver to Porto, train to Valenca and walk to Tui

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
I flew SFO to Porto on Air France last June no problems then caught a regularly scheduled bus at the terminal north to Valenca. The bus continued north though I don’t recall if it stopped in Tui. In any event it’s a 30 minute (beautiful) walk from Valenca to Tui. The year before I flew TAP SFO to Porto which was also fine. Both airlines service Barcelona so a multi city ticket should be uncomplicated

Level Airlines is a low cost carrier that flies between Barcelona and SFO (also LAX, NYC and BOS). It piggybacks off of Iberia Airlines. We used it in 2019 with no complaints. Others do have complaints so read up on it before buying a ticket.

I used level last year and am using them again this year. Last year both planes were brand new. I bought food before I left my daughters house in New York and ate it on the plane. It was way cheaper than buying the food option. Level has a codeshare with Iberia. There are flights between San Francisco and Barcelona. I had a good experience. Carried my backpack on the plane, no problem. They had entertainment as well as the ability to charge your devices if need be.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

While I had no issues with LEVEL flights, their customer service is another matter. It simply does not exist. In trying to change a return date I was transferred from Iberia, to Vueling and back to Iberia again, with neither able to do anything to help me. Never actually spoke with a Level employee. It was like being in a circular firing squad.
Flights, however, were just fine!
