I am looking for a transport service from Santiago de Compostela to Sarria. We are 3 pilgrims travelling together. Does anyone know of such a service? I have researched buses and trains and the current times listed will not work for me because I will be travelling by bus from Porto to Santiago and most likely arrive at about 1 pm. I would like to get to Sarria on the same day by about 5 pm. Do any of the backpack transports take pilgrims? I imagine hiring a taxi is pretty pricey.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Taxi is about 1€ per km, so not much if there are three of you. Otherwise, bus to Lugo, and then Lugo to Sarria.

The most common way from Santiago to Sarria is to take the bus to Lugo...then a quick transfer to a bus to Sarria.
Very commonly used by pilgrims.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-

115€ sounds resonable to you but for a lot of other people 115€ is a lot of money to spend for a taxi .

Wish you well ,Peter .
All I meant to say is that it’s the standard taxi cost per km, not anything above the going rate elsewhere. And since they are three, it won’t be much more than bus/train, and will be much faster than waiting for connections, which end up costing an extra day off work.

What day? Its not perfect but the train can get you to Sarria by 7pm for under 20€. It travels through Monforte de Lemos (yay Invierno) and you have to change train cars there but it is very easy and there isn't a big hurry because they are usually uncoupling a few train cars.

Their website doesn't seem to have the whole 2018 schedule fleshed out though, so you might have to wait a bit longer for them to realize it is 2018. So it goes.

There is a direct bus service from Santiago bus station to Sarria bus station. It depends on which day of the week, but Monbus dep Santiago at 1500 and arr Sarria bus station at 17.50. Fare eur12.50. This seems ideal for your needs. Presumably you will travel from Porto to Santiago by ALSA bus which finishes at Santiago bus station, the same one that the Monbus departs from. For timetables go to: monbus.es. For all your travel needs use : rome2rio. This is a fantastic site

We paid 130€ for a taxi on a Sunday. It would have been a little less if not a Sunday.

Hello, I am currently walking to Camino from Saint Jean and my girlfriend plans to join me from Sarria on 3rd May. The Bus/train times seem to be hard to navigate and not ideal timings wise. Is there anyone arriving around the same time to 4.20pm that would share a space in this tour shuttle operator? 115 euro between 3-4 people would be an ideal scenario.
Thanks

I book taxis from Santiago to Sarria through Caminofacil.
3 to 4 people can split the cost of the taxi and it's quite affordable.
You can do this via email on their website.

Hi JoAnn,
The taxi fare from Santiago to Sarria is normally €130 but it is worth shopping around.
Here are a couple of taxi companies you can look at
Hi Synbryans1,
there is a bus which leaves Santiago airport at 18:40 with the company Empresa Freire ( www.empresafreire.com ) and costs about €10. This bus to Lugo bus station and arrives there at 20:30. You then get a Monbus ( www.monbus.es/en ) at 20:45 and this arrives at Sarria at 21:15. This second bus costs about €4.
