Travelling from Santiago to Fatima

Quick question. We are planning to travel from Santiago to Fatima around April 14. What might be the best and easiest way to travel to Fatima, bus or train?

I took the bus in December 2016. Long trip but uncomplicated. Beautiful scenery along the way. Bus station in Fatima is within walking distance to the Shrine. Enjoy!

Hi, the daily 12pm Alsa bus from the bus station in Santiago is easy and straightforward. It drops you off in the centre of Fatima at 7pm (19:00h) on its way to Lisbon. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey. It travels via Vigo, Tui, Braga, Porto and Coimbra. It stops around 3.15pm at Casa Musica in Porto for 45-60 minutes. The driver gets you all out and he then locks the bus while he goes for his late lunch, so you might as well do the same!
Fatima train station is a long way (several kilometres) from the town of Fatima. You would have to get a bus from the train station into Fatima itself.

Ditto for the bus. We took it from Santiago to Porto for a couple days stay and then on to Fatima. An easy pleasurable ride. Be sure to check out how far your accommodations are from the bus station.

Also make sure there isn't a bus strike in Santiago the day you want to leave, which happened to us on our way back from the camino last July.
